Now that’s funny! Aside from the fancy folk who get paid to design such stuff and lean on all the various iconography and body language theories, if the performance is worthwhile, the album cover never means anything to me. If the album cover is great but the performance isn’t, whose going to sit around listening to the nice little square box? Some of my favorite recordings are older, anyway, wherein all the defects weren’t ironed out and leveled by sound engineers and their whizbang software. Maybe these kinds of album covers are attempts to get people to notice. Neither one moves me to think anything about them except those two cowboys in Lax Cruces….
