I spend a lot of time bemoaning the mediocrity of much of the music that crosses my desk. It’s only fair, then to point out that Yuja Wang is extremely good at the piano, and she has a new album out. Here are some videos. The first is just ridiculous. The second piece is actually on the album.

“Yuja Wang was….I don’t’ know, there needs to be a new word to describe her. The audience was dumbfounded and screaming at the same time. As were we. The orchestra looked exhausted. (Conductor) Bill Curry was dripping with sweat. FABULOUS.”
