How many American orchestras would let the great unwashed on stage with them? Marin Alsop’s Rusty Musicians project blurs the boundary between artist and audience, and in doing so creates new bonds with the community. If anything a victim of its overwhelming popularity, it will be interesting to see how the idea develops into a more formalized program.
